The Tacoinator 9000 (-inator)

September 29, 2011

Behold the awesome power of the Tacoinator and its awesome power to feed the entire Tri-State Area! (Or at least a family of five, I’m not really sure I’ve worked out all the kinks.)

Being a typical family in the American Midwest means that about two or three times a month we have tacos for dinner. Tacos is a meal that everyone likes because they get to build their own.  Of course by Tacos I mean any of the Mexican themed dishes that involve putting food in a tortilla. We sometimes put Fajita meat in our tacos and most of the time we roll up our tacos like burritos. Tonight we started what I hope is a new tradition for Taco night. Everyone in the family helped to make dinner. Sarah chopped tomatoes, Max shredded lettuce, Melanie grated the cheese, Kira browned the taco meat, and I defrosted the Guacamole. A real team effort. With all that help I even had the extra time and energy to warm the tortillas.

I’m guessing for some of the folks reading this that today’s title and opening are a little off the reservation. If you are already a fan of the show Phineas and Ferb you can skip this next part. Phineas and Ferb is a show beloved by GeekDads and GeekMoms everywhere. The simple premise of the show is using your imagination and living everyday of summer vacation to its fullest. There are lots of geeky inside references for the adults watching and they have a pet platypus. The platypus has an evil scientist for a nemesis who is always attempting to take over The Tri-State Area! Each week he accomplishes this goal (or attempts to) with some type of secret weapon (Destruct-inator, Deflate-inator, Freezeanator – you get the idea.)

Here is the opening sequence to give you a taste of its geeky awesomeness.

The only way to make taco night manageable is to delegate tasks to everyone.
I’ve heard so much about Phineas & Ferb, but have never seen it. I don’t have kids, but I know that’s no excuse. 🙂

You have to check it out. If nothing else you need to watch this clip with Davy Jones doing some voice-inating.

        OMG Davy!!
Ahem. Um, that was quite enjoyable. Yes. 🙂
Now I’m gonna be singing about meatloaf for the rest of the day.

For the record, the guacamole was in the fridge and I opened it and put it in a bowl myself…. Mike is more the managing type, but it’s hard to put that in a blog.
